When Dr. Timeka Tounsel packed up her family and moved across the country from Pennsylvania to Washington State, she knew her life was about to change.
New jobs. A higher cost of living. A bigger salary, and surprisingly, even bigger fear.
“I had worked hard for years,” she shared. “I was making more money than ever before, but I didn’t trust myself with it. I was scared. I didn’t want to make the same mistakes I’d made years ago.”
That moment of honesty is where her transformation began.
When More Money Doesn’t Mean More Peace
On paper, everything looked right. Both Dr. Timeka and her husband were established educators stepping into new opportunities. They had planned and saved for the move. But emotionally, the sudden increase in income and expenses triggered old anxieties.
“I realized that fear can follow you, even into abundance,” she said. “I thought more money would equal more freedom—but instead, I felt pressure.”
Like many high-achieving women, she had spent years learning the rules of money management but had never learned how to release the fear behind it.
That’s when she joined the Wealth & Wisdom STEWARD Circle, our faith-centered financial coaching community.
Inside The Circle, Dr. Timeka discovered something that shifted her entire perspective:
“God doesn’t have a problem with wealth. He has a problem when wealth replaces Him.”
That simple truth reframed everything.
Through the Circle’s blend of coaching, community, and accountability, she began to replace fear-based decision-making with faith-based stewardship.
Instead of asking, “Am I making the right financial move?” she started asking, “Is this aligned with God’s design for my life?” And that question changed everything.
“I learned to trust God, trust myself, and trust the process,” she reflected. “That trust became my new foundation.”
Healing Your Money Story. Change Your Mindset Money.
For Dr. Timeka, one of the biggest breakthroughs came during a one-on-one coaching session.
She confessed that even though she was financially stable, she still felt undeserving of certain comforts. “It was like I was punishing myself for the mistakes I made in my twenties,” she admitted.
As her coaches, we helped her see what was really happening: “You’re treating your past self like she’s still in charge. But the woman you are today has proven herself trustworthy.”
That revelation freed her from years of financial guilt.
“Once I let go of that shame, I started making confident decisions, like replacing our roof without fear. I realized that responsible stewardship doesn’t mean restriction. It means wisdom, preparation, and peace.”

Joy Beyond the Numbers
Through coaching and faith-driven accountability, Dr. Timeka learned that true financial confidence isn’t found in a dollar amount, it’s found in a mindset — a money mindset!
“I finally feel like I can have joy no matter what comes,” she said. “Because I’ve learned to trust God, trust myself, and trust the process. That’s a kind of wealth money can’t buy.”
She no longer sees money as a source of stress but as a tool for purpose. She makes decisions with clarity. She gives generously. And she walks in peace knowing that every financial choice can be an act of faith.
“When you get the order right — seek first the Kingdom — everything else aligns,” she said, smiling. “That’s what the STEWARD Circle helped me see.”
Dr. Timeka’s story captures the essence of what the STEWARD Circle teaches: that stewardship isn’t about scarcity, it’s about surrender, wisdom, and alignment.
Each woman in the Circle learns to:
Surrender her plans to God’s purpose.
Trust His process and her own growth.
Engage with her finances intentionally.
Walk in wisdom, not fear.
Align her money with her values.
Release scarcity and embrace abundance.
Dare to live generously.
It’s more than coaching, it’s community. A space where women can redefine wealth on God’s terms and walk in confidence, not comparison.
